MY FAVOURITE CAMPING SPOTS ON VANCOUVER ISLAND
Ah, summer! It's the perfect time to pack up the tent or RV and head out for an adventure. One of the many perks of living on Vancouver Island is the abundance of stunning camping spots right at our doorstep. Whether you're a seasoned camper or just getting started, there are some must-visit sites that I return to year after year. Here are my top three favorite places to camp on Vancouver Island.
Surf Grove in Tofino
Tofino is a magical place, and Surf Grove is my go-to spot when I'm in the mood for a beachside retreat. Every year, my family and I head there to watch the Queen of the Peak surf competition. It's such a thrilling event, showcasing the incredible talent of female surfers. The best part? You can hear the soothing sound of the waves from your campsite. It’s pure bliss!
Surf Grove offers surf rentals from their on-site surf shack, so whether you're a pro or a beginner, you can hit the waves anytime. And let’s not forget the Camper Cafe. There’s nothing like starting your morning with a fresh cup of coffee while taking in the breathtaking ocean views. It’s the little things that make camping here so special.
Living Forest in Nanaimo
Living Forest is a gem right here in Nanaimo. When Abby was younger, we would spend most of our summers here, creating some of our best family memories. Mornings would start with a leisurely stroll to the cafe for a warm cup of coffee, and after a fun-filled day, we’d head back for some delicious ice cream after dinner. It’s the perfect spot for a family-friendly camping experience with plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained.
The campground is beautifully maintained, and the views are spectacular. Whether you’re in the mood for a peaceful walk through the forest or a fun kayaking trip on the river, Living Forest has it all.
Surfside RV Resort in Parksville
If you're looking for a beachside camping experience, Surfside RV Resort in Parksville is the place to be. Located right on Parksville Beach, this campground offers stunning ocean views and a beautiful pool to cool off in after a day in the sun. The campground is incredibly clean and well-maintained, making it a comfortable and relaxing place to stay.
One of the highlights of Surfside is its proximity to Parksville’s beach activities. From beachcombing to building sandcastles, there's always something fun to do. Plus, the community feel of the campground makes it a friendly and welcoming place to spend your summer getaway.
Camping on Vancouver Island is an experience like no other. Whether you're drawn to the sound of the waves in Tofino, the family-friendly atmosphere in Nanaimo, or the beachside beauty of Parksville, there's a spot for everyone. So pack your bags, load up the car, and get ready to create some unforgettable memories this summer. Happy camping!
